This Week in Star Citizen (17532)

Hello, everyone!

Last week, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a Limerick contest that asked you to put your luckiest Star Citizen gaming moment in a rhyming five-liner. Over 600 of you answered the call and submitted entries on Spectrum! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who tried their best and put their poetic skills to the test. The Community Team is currently going through the submissions and will announce the winners very soon!

And as you’ve probably heard by now, we started testing the upcoming Alpha 3.9 patch release with our Evocati Test Flight group. This small group of technically minded testers is currently hammering away at early versions of the build and reporting bugs and feedback so we can open up access to more and more players. Scroll down to the Weekly Wisdom section to find out more about PTU waves and join us in thanking all Avocados for their service! o7

Now, let’s see what’s going on this week: On Tuesday, the Narrative Team will treat us to the third part of Serialized Fiction: Instrument of Surrender.

On Wednesday, we’ll announce the winners of our St. Patrick’s Day limerick contest. Also, we’ll release the monthly infographic, this time taking a closer look at how missions are played throughout the ‘verse. (UPDATE: The infographic will be published on Friday instead of Wednesday – the schedule has been updated below to reflect this change.)

We’re in for the last episode of Inside Star Citizen on Thursday before the show goes on its quarterly three-week hiatus. This time, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming weapon attachment UI and finally touring the new microTech landing zone, New Babbage!

Friday brings a Roadmap update and the RSI Newsletter will be delivered right to your inbox. This week also marks the return of Calling All Devs to its regular format after our special SQ42 episode, with your questions posed directly to our developers. Tune in on our YouTube channel on Friday to find out what’s discussed. Our Subscribers can also look forward to the March Issue of the Jump Point magazine.

See you in the ‘verse!

Weekly Wisdom: PTU Waves

The Public Test Universe (PTU) is a replica environment of the servers used to operate the game and the platform. This environment exists to allow public-testing phases of unreleased patches of the game and platform, but under tight access control.

Once a build is stabilized and features are completed, we roll that build out to a wider audience. The current PTU release format is as follows:

• Evocati: Our smallest group of testers who help us get our releases ready for a proper public viewing more quickly! They’re picked from the Issue Council posters with multiple submissions or contributions and from our most active PTU testers.

• Wave 1: All RSI accounts with active subscriptions and all our Concierge members will be invited to join the PTU testing when we open this wave.

• Wave 2: All members of the previous waves, plus players that have been very active and involved in the Issue Council, and players with the highest amount of playtime across all game modes. This group is also referred to as Wave 2.

• Open PTU: The PTU servers and access will be opened to all backers with a game package.

It’s of course worth mentioning that while this is the most common practice, in some unique situations for complex testing, we may deviate from the above.

Community MVP: MARCH 23RD, 2020

We're constantly amazed by the contributions made by the Star Citizen community. Whether it's fan art, a cinematic, YouTube guide, or even a 3D print of your favorite ship, we love it all! Every week, we select one piece of content submitted to the Community Hub and highlight it here. The highlighted content creator will be awarded an MVP badge on Spectrum and be immortalized in our MVP section of the Hub. Don’t forget to submit your content to our Community Hub for a chance at seeing it here!

Seven different angles by SpaceGamerUK We've all taken our fair share of Carrack screenshots by now. Some are alright, some are pretty, and some are truly unique like this fantastic compilation. SpaceGamerUK created seven different angles of his personal view on the ship using the same approach as one would in normal photography. As a result, we come to witness the play of light and shadows, the purity of the shapes, and the wonderful story behind each shot.
